5th Grade
September 2, 2008 CMS Community School Denver Public Schools
Dear 5th Grade Parents:
Hello and welcome back to a new school year at CMS Community School! Fifth grade is an exciting year and we, the fifth grade teachers, look forward to working hard and making sure every student achieves success this school year.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the fifth grade teachers and to explain the unique situation that is occurring in the fifth grade this year. Mr. Gutierrez will be teaching reading and writing for the entire fifth grade class, Ms. Gould will be teaching social studies to the entire fifth grade class, and Ms. Brody will be teaching mathematics to the entire fifth grade class. Each student will have a homeroom class and then will switch classes to attend all subjects throughout the day. This allows fifth grade teachers to work with each student to meet their individual needs.
We have many exciting things to learn and explore in the fifth grade this year, such as: Decimals and Fractions in Math, Nutrition and Weather Systems in Science and United States History in Social Studies. We will also be working hard everyday to become the best readers and writers we can be. The fifth grade teachers are also planning some exciting events outside of the classroom to support our learning and make the fifth grade a wonderful experience for all students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at CMS Community School at 303.935.4606. We are also available to meet before and after school. We look forward to meeting with you and working on ensuring a successful school year for your child.
Sincerely, Mr. Gutierrez Ms. Gould Ms. Brody
