New Playground

Schenck Elementary School was fortunate this year to receive approval for an eight classroom addtion and a brand new playground. The construction was funded by a 2003 bond election and was finished in September of 2005 by Bassett and Associates. Our students are truly enjoying our much needed addition and the FABULOUS new playground.

On September 16, the entire school gathered on the grass field to celebrate Mexican independence day and the dedication of our new playground.  In the following pictures you will see our student dancers, our student body and faculty.  Also photographed was our new principal Kristin Nelson-Steinhoff joined by our area superintendent, Joe Sandoval.  Derek Price stands with John Yancy, both of Wong Strauch Architects.  Kevin Sullivan of Wong Strauch,  Jay Watkins our DPS Construction Project Manager, and Kurt Madrid of Bassett and Associates also stand together.  Ana Garcia-Gustafson, Schenck's retired principal stands with her sister Carmen, after cutting the ribbon at our dedication celebration.

We are relieved to begin the school year with such a wonderful atmosphere and we feel satisfied that all the hard work by so many people in so many areas was well worth it!
